All These Memories
PG. 08/15/2005.
Damon wishes he could burn the sword that killed his brother for the second and last time, but instead he can't even abandon it, like he did the first.
Finally it joins the blue velvet diary in the chest under his bed, always kept safe but only rarely looked upon.
It is jumbled in with old coins, and letters, and clothing still scented with lost loved ones' perfume.
It is wrapped in the folds of the white silk gown, with the two lapis rings, silver and gold.
It is together with all these memories; with all these waiting things.
Notes: Final line is a reference to Ranier Maria Rilke's "Sappho to Eranna."
