The Shadow of Innsmouth

When Michael was small, his dad would read him Lovecraft at bedtime. Afterwards, when he was alone in the dark, he'd have waking dreams about people with froggy eyes tapping their spongy sucker fingers on his window. He'd have nightmares where he'd go to a family reunion and find he had mutant ancestors, and know that his time to join the Dagon had come.

Whe he heard that Julian almost took Audrey down at the beach, Michael realized he wouldn't have tried to save her. He loves her, but he'd rather lose everything than give himself up to the sea.
