Harry Potter

Something Else
Written after a request from yours truly, and executed beautifully. Harry wins the war but comes back broken, and Remus and Sirius take it upon themselves to heal him. I'm just in love with Harry here, with the way he responds to things. And the dynamics of Remus and Sirius' relationship feel really genuine, too.
By Beth. NC-17.

untitled
Crossover with The Chronicles of Narnia. A very clever little fic in which Sirius' fall through the veil sends him someplace that, while perfectly plausible, is very unexpected. I'd love this just for the novelty, but even besides that, it's pretty damn good.
By Bonibaru. PG.

Beyond the Veil
Jane Austen crossover. One of the most genius crossover pairings of all time, and well-written to boot. Yay!
By liamere. PG.

Celebration
Only the second Hermione/Remus/Sirius story I've ever read (I recommended the other a while ago) and this one is every bit as good, yet entirely different. And very sexy.
By Sociofemme. NC-17.

The Library
Hot hot hot smut. I have pretty high standards for H/H/R, because a lot of authors just can't seem to grasp the dynamics and it ends up feeling...weird. That certainly isn't a problem in this case, and look! Ron POV! Whee!
By Jintian. NC-17.

I Was Wondering If
A very admirable use of Legilimens as a plot device. And I'm well aware that there are very similar stories out there, but this one takes a basic pre-cut outline and manages to make it feel very fresh and new.
By Cassandra. R.

Working Class Hero
Wow. I...really didn't expect this to be as good as it was. I'm always suspect of fics that use a very minor character as one of the main players (because if they're two-dimensional in canon, what material does the author have to work from?) but...wow. Zachariah Smith gets portrayed very believably, and Harry's written well too, and the story as a whole is quite simply brilliant.
By abaddon. NC-17.

A Wolf In Girl's Clothing
I'm not really sure what I can say about this. I love that these Maurauders really act like the young teens they are. I love that Peter actually is portrayed as part of the group (it seems pretty common for people to ignore that bit of canon). I love Remus' characterization. And I love that this is funny in a non-ridiculous kind of way.
By Victoria P. PG.

For Services Rendered
Harry's initial characterization in this is unnecessarily disturbing, but the plot is pretty darn nifty. I really felt for Snape in this, and I found the ending to be very satisfactory indeed.
By Minx. NC-17.

A Good Buy
I don't know where all the "slave auction" fics I keep coming across came from, but I hope they don't stop coming any time soon. In this story, Harry goes up for auction, to be used as his master pleases for one week. Someone unexpected wins his bid, and an equally unexpected bond is formed. I like Snape's characterization in this, especially.
By Minx. NC-17.

The Life Debt
This story involves a premise that must have been very difficult to write. It could have been so easy to make this horribly squicky and wrong, but instead it...works. It's very sexy, and oddly romantic. I recommend it highly.
By Rushlight. NC-17.

Rite of Passage
So, so touching. This story takes advantage of what little we know of wizarding society, without sounding utterly preposterous. The believability of the way events come about and resolve themselves is what makes this story such a pleasure to read.
By Rushlight. NC-17.

Absolution
This fic deals with a very uncomfortable subject in a very respectful way that makes it seem very real. I love the relationship that's developed between the characters, and just the general sensitivity with which everything is treated. Lovely.
By Rushlight. NC-17.

The Sweetest Venom
This is a very refreshing twist on a basic plotline that seems to be pretty popular: Voldemort takes control of someone and makes them do something against their will. The result in this instant is something blindingly hot and so, so very right.
By Snaples. NC-17.

Fidelius
The very premise of this story is enough to draw anyone in: After the war, Harry is isolated for his own protection. Only one person can truly touch him. I love this because it takes a very abstract idea and makes it work. Very well.
By Tradescant. NC-17.

Cave Canem
This is HP fic at its best--that witty combination of humor and drama and romance and sex that only really seems to occur in this fandom. In this case, the Gryffindors play Truth or Dare, and it has unexpected consequences for Harry's lovelife.
By Maeglin Yedi. NC-17.

the silververse
This is an epic Draco/Harry series, set postwar. And that summary doesn't even begin to do it justice, because oh my gods there is some beautiful characterization going on. It takes a lot for an author to make D/H work for me, but boy does it ever here.
By Fearless Diva. NC-17.

Growing Up
I just love this fic. I'll probably be rereading it a lot, because it's just so perfect. Sirius and Remus take their roles as Harry's mentors about as seriously as they possibly could, and Harry finds a way to work of some of that dangerously pent-up anger, and it's sexy and naughty and very very right.
By celeria. NC-17.

Blood Money
I think I'm attracted to the sheer novelty of this story more than anything else, although it is well-written and gives nice Lupin characterization. But, see, I have this vampire fetish, and this fulfills it. So it wouldn't have needed to be nearly as good as it is for me to love it. That's just an added bonus.
By Switchknife. NC-17.

The Measure of Your Worth
Harry's brought Sirius back, but things are not right between them, and a solution needs to be found. What I like about this piece, especially, is Snape's role in all of it, as both mentor and mediator. It creates a really nice character dynamic, which is the pillar this story stands on.
By Amanuensis. NC-17.

Midst of Life
I am in utter awe of this story, even though I felt like the ending left too many unaswered questions. But--what a beautiful older Draco we find here, what a beautiful background for his character, and what a touching love story. And what hot sex between what an unlikely twosome.
By Anise. NC-17.

Found Wanting
This is a beautiful and heartbreaking story, wholly original in its premise. I read a lot of "Sirius comes back" fic, and I don't think any of them have affected me as strongly as this, because it's Harry and Sirius and everything is painful and difficult and not okay. And yet it is.
By Anise. NC-17.

Practice Makes Perfect
A very nice Marauders-era story about sexual experimentation and adventure. It's James and Sirius and Remus being typical teenage boys, wanting to do what they've been told is wrong and finding a way to rationalize it. Very hot, to boot.
By Anise. NC-17.

Listen Like Thieves
This story is hot. And wicked. It's Remus and Sirius having some naughty fun in a convenient place, but it's the little element of voyeurism that really gives it that special something.
By Victoria P. NC-17.

Tea and Scones
Awwwwwww! Just too cute. Really. Hermione has a plan, and she's baking, and Snape is one very surprised wizard. I love love love the dialogue, especially.
By Kate Bolin. PG.

Cold
I just love this story, although normally I really want nice solid explanations for unusual pairings like this. But if I had that here, the whole fic would be ruined, because the charm of it is that it's so subtle and quiet. I love Draco's characterization especially.
By Twinkledru J. R.

Once and Future
Oh. My. Gods. This fic is pure brilliance. It's an old old story with a new face, bittersweet and sad and genius. Very very highly recommended.
By Twinkledru J. PG-13.

Good Boy
I don't really know how to feel about this. The author works wonders on a very difficult challenge--Sirius seducing an initially unwilling 13-year-old Harry--by taking the more difficult path of dealing with the moral issues involved. I can only applaud her efforts, but I can't be sure that I genuinely liked the story, because the reader is put in a deliberately uncomfortable position. Definitely worth reading.
By Memory Charm. NC-17.

all fall down
This is a dark and ambiguous Remus that I've never seen before. A vivid and intricate portrayal of the first war, of the fear, the sacrifices, the regrets. I can't put nto words how good this fic really is.
By Regala Electra. R.

Tattered and Tumbling
X-Men (movieverse) crossover. Remus and Kurt hang out in a bar and talk. And flirt. Nice and subtle, with lovely characterization. Very intriguing.
By Twinkledru J. G.

The Boy Who Lived
An incredibly sad story of three shattered lives. This drabble made me cry.
By faite_. PG.

A Pornish Storybook
An adorable, sexy, and sweet Harry/Sirius adult picture book with some great illustrations. Some poeple might have issues in that Harry's fourteen at the time of the story. But I don't.
By Nimori. NC-17.

unsticking the shadow
This is a very creepy story in which Hermione watches while Voldemort wins, using thoroughly insidious methods. It's about...what the face of evil really looks like, and how hard it is to see.
By Pogrebin. R.

Bed and Board
Okay, this has some really good sex in it. But...that's not what it's about. It's about a genuinely terrifying post-second-war society, and three people who can't buy into the fantasy. Simply fabulous.
By Resonant. NC-17.

The Trick of Love
Harry, Hermione, and Ron are living together, but it's kind of a Three's Company thing. Except that Harry and Ron are fucking each other and Hermione knows it, and Ron and Harry are hot for Hermione and she doesn't know it. I love the drawn-out convoluted plot and the very satisfying conclusion.
By RedBlaze. NC-17.

The Very Best Tree
Some seriously seriously hot PWP Harry/Hermione/Ron smut. This is told in second-person, which I normally don't like, but it works so well here. The trio celebrates Christmas together, and we're in Hermione's mind and she's thinking about science experiments and sensation and...perfect. Yeah.
By nightfalltwen. NC-17.

How It Will Be
Wow. This is one seriously dark (and satisfying in a very wrong way) story. Lucius tells his son in unrelenting detail what will happen if Draco fails to obey him.
By Kate Bolin. NC-17.

A Dare's a Dare...right?
I wasn't extremely thrilled with the writing quality, but the story itself is lots of fun. Harry, Hermione, and Ron get drunk and play magically-binding Truth or Dare. Stuff is set in motion.
By LizardLaugh. R.

Third Wheel
Harry and Ron survive Hermione. Where do they go from there? How do they close the gap left behind? Reading this made me alternately sorrowful and hopeful, caught in their cycle of ending and beginning.
By Switchknife. NC-17.

Rounding Complete Grace
This is all about the complicated web of affection and love and loyalty that is Harry, Hermione, and Ron's collective relationship. Beautifully and sensitively written.
By Victoria P. R.

Nonesuch
Sirius haunts his childhood home, and the people he left behind. This is Harry/Remus and yet...not. This is hot sex that leaves you near tears. This is amazing.
By Ociwen. NC-17.

Fair
This short little sexy Harry/Hermione/Ron fic stands out for me because it depicts a triad relationship so accurately. This isn't threesome sex--this is three people living and loving comfortably together. Very sweet.
By Resonant. NC-17.

Transfiguration
Harry/Hermione/Ron sex, complete with startlingly well-written characterization. I don't like the Superman reference halfway through, because it's distracting, but otherwise...mmm.
By Victoria P. NC-17.

Coming Home
This is Remus/Sirius, pre-war, experiencing a rather sweet and mundane life together. Knowing how their lives turn out makes this story especially poignant. And did I mention sexy? 'Cause yeah.
By Victoria P. NC-17.

Between
Really really good Harry/Hermione/Ron smut, featuring a particularly original sex act that left me gasping.
By Ellen Fremedon. NC-17.

Three Tequila
This rocks my world. Remus and Sirius keep Hermione satisfied while her boys are off in America. Seriously teh hotness.
By Victoria P. NC-17.

Too Much Noise
Sexy fluffy humorfic written in the most delicious way. Harry and Ron are making too much noise one night, and after an investigatory trip, Ginny and Hermione get ideas.
By paranoidkitten. NC-17.

Thumbscrew
Dark and frightening and startlingly original--Alice and Bellatrix, and why things happened the way they did. This is a story of jealousy and madness and a love that can kill. But it's also really hot.
By Mallory. NC-17.

Neither Rain [and] Nor Dark of Night
Two drabbles that just left me in tears. Harry sends a letter to someone he misses terribly, and there are consequences he had never foreseen.
By Nutmeg. PG.

First Owl
A short and sweet fragment of Remus' birthday and his Hogwarts letter. I guess I've read some of the ideas brought up here before, but...this really stands out for me. Maybe precisely because it's this little slice of life--it gets you thinking more.
By Jo. PG.

Not quite an angel and On the wings of a prayer
Two drabbles that sort of go together. This brings up a really, really lovely concept, about what happens to dead wizards and where all those blasted owls come from. Sad and spectacular all at once.
By lethe medusa. PG.

Trinity
Harry/Hermione/Ron is my One True Threesome to begin with, so right off the bat, this got me. But this conveys a lot more teenage awkwardness than most of the other fics out there, so it gets big points.
By Victoria P. PG-13.

Niobe
This story is just brimming with beautiful pain. There's some really really good poetic writing going on here, even as we see into the inner workings of Hermione's thoughts and emotions, into a future that's bleak and yet, full of possibilities.
By Victoria P. R.

Truth
This is a story of mistaken identity (of sorts) and misdirected emotions and quiet confessions and hot, hot breaths. Simply lovely.
By thisveryinstant. NC-17.

No Stray
Sirius reflects on things, as he sits in a Mediterranean bar and writes letters to Remus. I'm not quite sure why I like this fic so much. It just has this very mellow vibe. It makes you think without having to realize it.
By Canis M. PG-13.

We All Fall Down
It's this painful little darkfic. Or maybe it's not darkfic, even though it's dark. It's all about hope and surviving. Wrapped in protective blankets made of nursury rhymes and memories and human contact, Hermione and Ginny do just that--survive.
By Bec. NC-17.

Transfigurations
This is one of those long, slow, unraveling epics in which the HP fandom seems to specialize. And it's brilliant. The author imagines this amazingly complex postwar world, where Harry already has this whole secret past and everyone's managed to evolve without being out-of-character. And all the magical theory stuff pushes all the right buttons with me.
By Resonant. NC-17.

adolf hitler and the strange discovery
N*Sync and historical crossover. A delightful little gay romp of a story. No further description possible.
By Twi. PG-13.

Swallowed a Fly
I remixed this, and in the process learned it word for word, by heart. There's something utterly, utterly tragic and sad about this little story of the present and the future and what Hermione does with her time. Harry's characterization here, though, was what really grabbed me. It's in-character and yet...and yet I wouldn't ever want to see him this way in canon, because it would just hurt too much.
By Kathryn. R.

Real Methods of Divination
Lavender and Parvati's relationship blossoms like roses, and we get to read as it happens, word by word. Divining each other's hearts, minds, bodies, they show us a story of adolescent longing, loneliness, and finally, completion.
By Proserpina. PG-13.

Faded laughter against her ear
Ginny finds a painting of Sirius in the attic. I'd give more detailed description or praise, but I'm too busy weeping.
By Mary Borsellino. PG.

The Way The World Ends
Oh...my. This is a slow, sad, chilling story of the aftermath of Sirius' death. It's ambiguous and raw and leaves you breathless, wondering what to think, how to feel, who to go on loving.
By Toft. NC-17

Long Days of Summer
The first Harry/Remus I've ever read, and good enough to get me obsessed with reading more. The last line of this confused me, and I felt like it ended too abruptly, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. The spot-on characterization and all the little supporting details helped out a lot with that.
By Scarlet Carly. NC-17.

Harry Potter and the Mai Tai of Doom
Harry and Voldemort go on a long drunken vacation to Hawaii. Marvellous adventures are had. This story is silly and witty and utterly genius!
By Sushi. PG-13.

The History of the World
Oh, oh, this made me cry. It's a beautiful Lily fic that explains why Harry doesn't have grandparents and why Petunia really hates her sister. It gives this vivid heartbreaking portrait about what Lily's final days really were like, what the world at that time was like. Remarkable.
By Shaye. PG.

breathe
A little poem of a story about Hermione and hearts and kisses and love, and the words just flow down the page and ring in your mind for days.
By Yumi. PG-13.

No Happy Memories
Sirius has 24 hours, and he wants to spend it with Harry. This story made me cry and cry, and it was just so beautiful and perfect and oh, just read it.
By Amanuensis. NC-17.
